electrical problem with 87 300SDL

Have shorted circuit on fuse 15. This is one that has antenna, dome lights, and courtsey lights. Thought problem was with alarm system. Unplugged module with no change. Only clues to this mistery is the seatbelt warning light flashes continualy when power is on. Have found light flashing with power off and doors closed. The switch for the maplight/courtesylight doesn't work correctly. In one position the light comes on. Another it is off. in still another the passenger side light comes on. Have also unplugged antenna motor thinking there maybe a short there. No change. Have manual on CD. There is a antithief module in the circuit that that appears to effect the circuit. Have no idea where it is located or how to test. Any suggestions?

I had a thread somewhere about my 300 SDL lacking wipers, seats and windows. The excellent local independent tech says it is not fuses. I had to use the car, but it will be gong back.

Does anyone know exactly which relay might cause these losses?

Should I start a new thread? How do I find my old one?

Thanks,

JK

@killboj - Start a new thread and tag me into it.

Do you have the ETM (Electrical Troubleshooting Manual) You really need it to do any type of electrical T/S! It's like trying to drive to NY from LA with no maps or GPS.. You may get there, but it will take forever. I can teach you how to navigate your electrical system if you are at all adept at electrical.

Bob, the anti theft device lives under the passenger side foot rest. Pull the carpet, unscrew the plastic cover and you are looking for this critter.

as to the SDL, here is what I THINK happened: the fuse box has some sort of aftermarket extra cable from the battery to it. Must have been an old fix. Fuses were fine. The battery was showing a little corrosion in the tray area, so I had it removed, cleaned and coated. I SUSPECT that when that was done, the add-on cable was disconnected and reconnected to the terminal clamp. I think it was connected but had stopped passing current. Everything works fine now. Lesson learned: just because a connection looks tight doesn't mean it is working..
