Emergency!!!!! complete transmission fluid leak, car just serviced at MB dealer

I think I just dumped all my transmission fluid. and I just had the transmission fluid changed (3 weeks ago) at the dealer as part of a 30K mile service. Car has 29K miles on it. How can I check to see if the dealer messed up? Can I check the pan? Location?

transmission fluid dipstick is BONE dry. fluid dripped heavily from front of engine and sprayed, car will not engage in reverse. drove it 2 miles after incident to get off highway and home.

Sounds like the transmission cooler lines have leaked. I hope the transmission is still good.

Since you've had the car serviced at the dealership, call the Mercedes roadside service and have them tow it back to see what the issue is.

Did some research I think you're right a. What to look for for a trans oil cooler leak? There was some smoke. I might have destroyed the transmission.

In changing transmission fluid, anything dealer could do to accidently foul oil cooler (filter)? Any recommendations for a good DC/Northern VA independent to take a look? (and tow) this car is going nowhere.

Reason I recommended the Mercedes Roadside Assistance call is that they provide free towing to the dealership. Since you had the work just done there and you think that they may have done something wrong, its best to point it out to them to make things right again. After all, you just paid to have it serviced RIGHT. If they screw up, its their job to fix it.

make sure they tightened the trans drain plug down, if the plug isn't there, its safe to say they forgot to tighten it down and you should get a free transmission at there expense

You drove it home two miles after loosing ATF and there’s smoke…

Well, that may have compromised anything the dealer may have done wrong – you should have stopped the car immediately.

With an ATF cooler line leak you see lots of ATF in the front drivers part of the engine bay and ATF dripping from the blown line. I don’t think the dealer did anything wrong, an ATF and filter change is unrelated to a blown cooler line.

Completely agree. Should not have driven. Was really close and its Christmas Eve. And get this. My car is freshly detailed looks amazing. My brother and I were there with the hood up, and some lady drives by in a CRV and is clapping and laughing at us. Nice. Merry Christmas.

But interesting: I called roadside assistance and they said they do not provide free towing because car is out of warranty. I'm screwed. Transmission rebuild/new expense? 1K? 2?

That's bullshit. Both the ladies attitude and what they told you about the towing. Roadside assistance towing to a dealer is free for life. I would also tell them that a dealer just serviced the transmission before it did this.
