No real access to the ashtray, but it has two USB cables in the glove box. One can be used to charge the phone.

I guess if I park in a sketchy area, the whole thing just simply detaches and you disconnect the cable.

Just remember to take it with ya. My youngest son lives in Brooklyn and formally, NYC. If they see anything of value on the seat or the dash, they break a window and grab it. He had to give up bike riding...tried the best locks/cable....didn't make any difference. He even found a guy riding one of his stolen bikes. Said a guy sold it to him.....a rechargeable Dremel with a cut-off wheel will cut through anything but a diamond. If they want it, they get it.
