w124 wheel swap

Hello, looking to purchase a used set of wheels for my 93 300 ce cabrio.
I found a set for 450.00 off of a 2002 clk55 amg sized as follows:

225 45 17 on 7.5 x 17 et 37

245 40 zr 17 8.5 x 17 et 30

My car is stock ride height ... from my re search they should fit without any rubbing issues... can anyone confirm this?

>>> also will i need to change the lug/studs?

Thank you for any help...

Use the search tool and type in "wheel size chart". These will be factory recommended alternatives. Stuffing those 8.5" wide rims in the rear wheel wells is going to be tricky.

Lugs are a huge question mark. First off, you need to know what the lug hole size is on the wheels in question . Your CE has 12mm bolts. If the wheels have 14mm holes, you'll need special bolts from the aftermarket world. As for bolt length/seat. No clue....

2002 CLK55 rims have 12mm holes. You will need bolts with 40mm shank which should be the same as your 1993 300CE if you have the original rims.

Double check when mounting the rim by sticking a bolt thru the bolt hole. It should protrude out the back between 5/8 and 3/4 of an inch. No more or less.

The rears will fit fine, but the fronts....wheel may be hitting the shock.

If so, you'll need to run a spacer. Probably at least 5mm. Which will then require longer lug bolts.

I bought the same wheels for my 1995 E320 coupe. same as your CE.
The issues I found.
The rears are too wide. They dont look right as they go past the wheel well. (unless you like the mad max look)
So you'll need another set of front ones, they fit better.
Then the ride height looks weird so I highly recommend buying lowering spring set to bring it down 1"

DO NOT CUT OR COMPRESS THE SPRINGS.
Ive ordered the springs.
I'm actually still trying to find my other front set.

8.5" too wide?

Nonsense.

I have 9s right now. No rubbing.

Had fitted 10s on my 1994 for awhile. No rubbing.

It's all in the offset. Your's will be just fine in the rear.

My 1994 with 10s:
