If MB is using Sachs as OE for the gassers, that's the way to go and the one to find.

Glad to see the problem was resolved by simply restoring the system to its original condition.

Don't think so, that's why I asked OP to see what he got.
When I purchased fan clutch last year from MB, it was Behr unit. So, I returned it and was going to get the Sachs unit from 210. But, now it is backordered everywhere.

Confusing when either of the two should be fine. Maybe the OP can tell us which brand made it roar....lol!

Sachs/Horton and Behr are both OEMs for MB, depending on the fan clutch application used.

I've seen a skew in recent years toward units made by Sachs/Horton, for multiple engines, including the M103/M104.

If one had a choice between Behr and Sachs/Horton for the same application, I'd recommend the S/H unit.

When someone says their clutch doesnít roar...when you finally replace it with one that does you know immediately.

I knew my stock clutch died when I no longer heard it roar. Replaced with a genuine MB and thereís no way you canít hear it unless you are absolutely deaf.

Ultimately the stock cooling system is ďfineĒ if working well for 110+ ambient, but donít think itís going to work as well as a later model with a 600-800w electric fan. My E350s temp never moves and the electric fan is like an aircraft taking off. These old engines like to generate heat as well.

Correct, both are OEM. But, Behr unit in MB packaging is Chinese made and that's why I returned it and opting for the German made Sachs unit.

And why I recommend that Sachs/Horton be used. :-)
