My long term hosting company (BeyondHosting) has given a 14-day notice that they are no longer supporting my hosting product and the price will be increasing 5x immediately. Ridiculous but W/E their business, just pissed off at no heads up

Since they have not given me any time to merge anything, it may take some time to get it back up and running for those who are using it to gain access to the factory manual.

Wanted to give a heads up, It’ll be down at the end of the month, so if you have work planned please save the PDF’s before then since it may take me 3-4 to make sure all files are transferred somewhere else since I’m also going on vacation as well

Have a few thousand people per month visiting so I thought I should mention although I don’t really update it anymore...not a site builder by any means

Quick question - 3 -4 what (days, weeks, months)?

Thanks for creating and maintaining such a fantastic resource!

Floobydust: a contemporary term derived from the archaic Latin miscellaneous, whose disputed history probably springs from Greek origins (influenced, of course by Egyptian linguists) - meaning here "a mixed bag." - National Semiconductor Audio Handbook

Weeks since I'll be gone for 2 weeks next month and FTP downloading all the files and mainly images over the years will take some time...then to make sure the MySQL databases transfer and all site address map so images won't error out.

PITA!

Well may not even be the EOM - they just sent me email saying account termination. I’ve done a quick full site backup and will have to find a new hosting platform but may not happen for a few weeks still.

Whats infuriating is that if I was out of the country, I could come back to no site, and all my years of work deleted being absolutely clueless about it.
Have had it on PayPal autopay for 8 years, I get no emails (didn’t get anything they said below, and even if I did 2 weeks notice is acceptable???) then account deletion because their “auto upgrade” makes me overdue and 7 days later I’m wiped. I’m glad I sent them an email quickly asking why my billed amount had changed or I would have been screwed, along with all who use the data I host:

Guess they don’t GAF about their customers if they don’t make much money:

Robert,

We sent out an email on 4-12-18:

Hi,

The web hosting service you are currently using is being phased out for our better Managed Hosting offering and your service will be upgraded automatically.

This new service is called "Managed Cloud Hosting" and is priced at $49.99/Mo.

These changes will take place on your next invoice. For customers paying annually and biannually your next renewal will be at the new price.

Regards,
Beyond Hosting

At this point in time it is no longer economical for us to support customers with smaller spend bases.

Here's a fun one...Over the past twelve months almost every country in the world has users with W124's that have visited the site...haven't looked at google analytics in years. This is why I continue to pay the hosting although I dont update it because I know its still valuable to a lot of people.
