New to 124's: DP's old 1991 300TE and a parts wagon

So I just bought DP's '91 300TE and it's home in my driveway. DP threw in a bunch of parts including a sunroof mechanism for a w126 that will fix my SDL's sunroof problems.

The drive home was great. The only issue was a hydraulic line started leaking about 5 miles from my house. It shot fluid on the exhaust and made a big cloud of smoke that scared my wife and I at first. DP did a bunch of great work on this thing and there's not a whole lot left to do mechanically.

It goes in for a front end alignment, inspection, emissions, and fix the hydraulic line early this week.

I put my CLK wheels on it today and cleaned it up a little bit. More cleaning will occur after the car is all legal.

The 1995 E320 parts wagon is a PERFECT donor for this 300TE. It's an exact color match for the interior and exterior and is loaded with upgrades that will be nice to have in the TE.

I think I'm going to put the hood from the E320 along with the Euro headlights /wipers on the TE. The third row seat and hatch carpet pieces, heated front seats with armrest/console, roll top center console box, electric side mirrors, and cargo net/divider are also going over to the 300TE.

I think I'll use the wheels from the E320 to hold snow tires for the TE.

PICS:

So there's the pics. I'll be hanging out reading in this forum from now on and hope to be able to contribute something soon.

I need to get a copy of the manual ASAP.

Cool! Why is the E320 a parts car?

It had a flex disc failure on my drive home with it. It has a head gasket leak too.

I got it in a deal when I sold my '85 300TD.

After I'm done picking it apart for the TE and storing or selling the rest, I'll scrap the shell. It will only be a shell too. I'm going to strip it "pwogaman and Johnhef" style.
PWogaman likes this.

Parts?

Are you interested in selling any of those parts? I have a 1991 300TE. I am in the market for a used transmission, and a fuel tank sender (Assuming both worked just fine before car became parts). I can pull the parts myself if that helps. You are only a couple of hours away.

Cheers,
Werner

Sorry. The 91 300TE is going to be my daily driver and the trans from the 95 E320 parts car is trashed. I won't be selling any parts from the parts wagon until I have pulled everything I need from it first.

I would have liked to get a 4matic, but I couldn't find a decent specimen within my budget.

Which error are you referring to? I want to make sure my efforts are focused in the right direction.
