I removed the Hella decorative reflection thingy on the back of my sweety! My mom even helped because she was bored lol

I think I took a risk as there might have been rust under it after so many years but I thought it would be better to find out sooner then later.

Gripen,

Well done son. It finally looks like a classic MB vs. a Saab or a Hyundai or a 2nd gen Ford Scorpio (the ugly one).

Thumbs up.

Those hideous add-ons are notorious rust traps. Looks like you dodged this bullet.

Thanks Steve! I am also very happy I removed it, it looks better and yeah I think I dodged the rust bullet there

I actually had a 1996 Saab 9000 CSE 2.3t which I loved and still regret selling because my now ex girlfriend "couldn't drive it" as it was too big for her :P

NEVER let a car you love go for a girl/woman is my advice.

Yes mine are all ET37. The back has loads of room for 225/45s.
I have kept the front 225/45 tyres I removed - they will be the next set of back tyres, so there has been no waste putting 215/45s on the front.
My car is a 90 update according to my MB Datacard, so has the mildly rolled fender lips at the front from the factory as well.

There's 3mm difference in radius between the 215/45 and 225/45 so to be safe I would go the 215s personally. Opinions vary but it solved my problems.

Ah good to see someone else from Australia on here, more specifically someone who is close by too! The facelift did take place some time in 1989, easiest way to tell is if your car has the cladding at the bottom on the doors rather than the thin strip of plastic and if you have woodgrain on the top of the door cards and along the dashboard.
