high mileage car - fair price?

i love the idea of adding a high mileage well kept car to my 38k original mile sunday driver 85 300d

Thoughts on a reasonable offer for a 600k mile, one owner original car? Drivetrain rebuilt almost 300k miles ago...

https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds...d/1804875.html

I do not think it will fetch 8500 in the current environment, but I do not want to show the seller an offensive offer

All thoughts appreciated

anyone have any thoughts? fair price to offer? don't want to offend the owner who clearly loved and cared for the car for decades... but it does have a limited audience.

I have seen this car for sale for a long time now. I have to admit that for an almost 600K mile car, it looks superb and definitely looks like it has been cared. The problem I see is that it has covered a lot of miles, even after the drivetrain was rebuilt. Heck, it has done almost 240K after that.

Normally high millage cars donít sell for much money. For that money you can have a later one with less than a 100K on it. A member sold an 82 with a 127K on BaT for around 7.000 dollars.

At that price, I think the owner doesnít want to sell it or he/she wants to get back some of the money they have spent on it. That makes me believe the seller wonít take any offer, or at least wonít lower the price below 8 grands.

However, if you want a high millage hero to brag about how well engineered and built older Mercedes were, this is probably the best alternative out there, specially if it you get a mountain of receipts that prove the millage.

The servo was replaced with an electronic conversion and a heater valve. You can see the vacuum lines and valve in the right inner fender. If the A/C is working properly, this car could be worth it because the worst problem these cars have has been addressed (or at least that is what I think).
