Fuel sender

I took out the fuel sender with my 1 13/16 sears socket and now it is sitting on the bench. Do you pry it apart or does it unscrew. Since it is over 200 bucks I figure i better be nice to it. This is out of my 123 300tdt wagon. Thank you

Not sure, can you spray clean it with brake cleaner, to remove any build up?

There is a nut at the bottom that needs to be removed. You can slot the tip of a screw driver. I used the tips of snap ring pliers and twisted it off. Then the whole tube unscrews. Be careful when you pull it apart. There are 3 thin wires that you don't want to break.

You can see the threads where the tube unscrews from on this pic. The center shaft is what the nut is attached to.

This pic shows mine before I repaired the broken ground wire.
