Help. New to Mercedes and need identification help.

I have a 1973 280C. I need help decoding the vin. I hope that some of you experts can help. The VIN is
11407312000989
I would like to find as much info as possible. Thank you in advance.

The VIN won't tell you a whole lot other than what chassis it is - 114.073.

You need the data card to identify the options and such. If it's not in the paperwork with the car you can get one from the Classic Center, but it will cost you $150.

Also 12 means left hand drive auto trans. But you already knew that. Plus it was the 989 of that model/chassis built that year.

Yeah, I can see them giving you the odd option code or paint code, but not providing an exhaustive list of data card info.

That will cost you the $150, Iím sure.

The seller of my 220SEb was amazed at how excited I was when they showed me the two data cards they had for the car...
