vacuum line.

In the middle of a lot of work and want to know what one connection is. I know the vent line to the intake but there is a short hose connectiom from the head to the manifold. It's about 4" long and goes vertically down from the head to the manifold close to the engine 2.8 straight 6 early 70's kjetronic.
The stub connection on the head
( using a mirror to look ) has a 1mm hole in it.
What is it for??

Garage
It would probably help if you told us what car you have, and where in the world you are located. You can put this info in your user profile.

Removing all the injection system and changing to Webers ( not chinese ones 😆 )
Total strip down and rebuild.
I'll try to post some photos.

Is this the line you are referring to? The one between the cam box and intake manifold?

That is a vapor control vent. It acts as a PCV device.

Yes, that's it. Thank you.

Can you explain its exact function?

It is connected to the intake. The upper portion of the steel tube (the end going into the cam box) has a small orifice and a mesh filter. Any vapor/fumes/blow-by is drawn into the intake and is burnt with the fuel mixture.

Yes, you need it. If you plug it, you will have oil all over that shiny engine.

Thanks.
I am coverting to carbs. The complete kjetronic being removed entirely including HP pump etc.( don't like 80+ psi in a 44 year old car)
7psi pump and regulator/filter at 2 to 3 psi going on.
The manifold system almost completed but by the sounds of it I will need to connect that port into the manifold.
