Apologies if this has been asked before but I did search and didn't see anything obvious!
Has anyone on here replaced their W639 Sidelight/DLRs with LEDs successfully? I had a go by getting a set of these:
However, they don't come on with the engine (as DLRs) and when I turn the lights on now I get a warning that my parking light bulbs aren't working (even though they are).
So I'm thinking that I have 2 issues:
1. The original W21 bulbs are dual filament and so have separate filaments for DLR and Parking/sidelight function, whereas the LEDs only have a single set of terminals for on/off.
2. The CANBUS can't cope with the lower load of the LEDs and is throwing the error regarding parking light bulbs.
I've had a look at the various CANBUS resistors/converters available, and I'm going to need something that has a 3 wire input (for DLR and sidelight) but only 2 wire output. Has anyone used anything like this before, or is there a simpler solution (like a different LED that has the sufficient resistors built in).
Alternatively should I just give up and use an old-school bulb?!!
