Fitting Leisure Battery & Split Charge

In the process of looking at buying the kit to fit a leisure battery and charging kit to my 2011 116 Vito and I'm stumped by what I'm reading about 'euro 5 and euro 6 vehicles with smart alternators or ECU controlled charging systems'.

I was hoping it was going to be as easy as sticking a leisure battery under the driver seat and wiring up a split charge kit.

Any one got any advice or know how I check whether I've any of the systems mentioned above? Don't really want to shell out for a battery to battery charger unless I have to.

Thanks!

you won't have euro6 as it is only on the newest models... and not all of them

as for euro5..... look in your logbook/ v5 ... its one of the first items listed with engine type etc.... guaranteed to be there because the amount of road tax you pay is determined by the euro class (it was on euro 5 models only)
