Vito L113 Gas Problem

I have a strange problem with my Mercedes Vito L113, sometimes when it's running and I'm on the road, the gas pedal stops responding, I step on it and it does nothing. Turning the switch off and on again even without stopping fixes the problem, and it doesn't happen everyday, sometimes more than once a day, and sometimes once every three or four days.

I tried going to the Mercedes dealer maintenance shop and the computer diagnostics showed a problem in "fire 2 and 4", I'm guessing this means the spark plugs, but I tried changing them, and the coil that controls them and the problem wasn't fixed. The maintenance shop guy said he has no clue what could be causing this, so any advices or suggestions as to where to look would be much appreciated.

Check your accelerator pedal box - there is a potentiometer inside that can go on the blink sometimes. Also, check the connectors there - could be a contact problem.

The 113 does not use the usual bowden throttle cable - since it's a drive-by-wire throttle.

Thank you for your advise, I'll check that out, but can you please point me to where the "accelerator pedal box" is? Is it behind the pedal itself or in the front?

It's connected to the accelerator pedal. There is a wiring harness attached to it. Check for corrosion in all the contacts. The potentiometers may also need some WD40.
