You will have to clean the vehicle thoroughly in Europe. If it is dirty they won't allow it on the Ro/Ro ship. Canadian customs is much better than USA customs but clearing a vehicle is always a bit of a crap shoot. Most of the time it works out ok but it can go down hill fast. Most problems are from importer ignorance but sometimes customs just wants to bust your balls. Get a good customs broker - they will make things go much smoother and cost a lot less than even a minor snafu.

Nachfolgefragen

Danke

Translation:
It will probably become RoRo because I have not yet received an offer for Flat Rack.
Since I can not be there myself with the loading now succession question.
Where are the best lashing points in the U1300L.
Is there a short driving instruction somewhere that I can hang in the cabin for the loaders?
Thank you

Make a little pictorial of the shift levers and what they all do...

A simple diagram of the levers, a multilingual flag on each one saying yes/no to tell them which ones have nothing to do with rolling it around and a simple starting and stoping procedure should do fine.

These, in the day when heaven was falling, The hour when earth's foundations fled, Followed their mercenary calling, And took their wages, and are dead.

Their shoulders held the sky suspended; They stood, and earth's foundations stay; What God abandoned, these defended, And saved the sum of things for pay.

Don't forget to point out the battery disconnect and mention that it needs to be used.

If it is a standard ex-military U1300L, the good thing is that there is not a forest of levers to confuse the issue.

I'd take a photo of the gear shift area (or use one of these) and Label the controls, such as :

A. Gear Shift (include a diagram of the shift pattern, if the knob does not have it)

B.Parking Brake - Make a note that this will not release the parking brakes until sufficient Air pressure has built up.

C. Forward / Reverse lever .

D. Air pressure Gauge on dash - Photo of this and circle the Air Gauge, and relate it to (B.), the parking brake lever.

E. Locker Switch - circle the correct setting (2WD) and put red X's over the other two choices.

Something like this.

I'd make multiple copies , tape one on the window, the glove box, in the glove box, etc. They cost nothing, and better too many than one that goes missing.

Make written notes on the printed photos as necessary, in what ever languages that are appropriate.

Plus the battery switch, and enough fuel to cover the loading/unloading, and driving it out of the port and then a good distance to the first Fuel stop with Diesel.

Pretend that you are communicating with a 10 year old that has never driven before .

I think I remember seeing a Bundeswehr Document that shows the procedure for lashing down the U1300L. I can't find it at the moment.

Stay off of the axles.

Here are some photos to see how others have gone about it. The Front tow socket / pin is often used, as you can see.

Not all are U1300L's, clearly.
