My new Smart

Here's some shots of my new toy I got today. I ordered my first mod, a Parrot bluetooth.

It's a blast to drive, just the micro car experience. You have to appreciate micro cars to enjoy it. I was hesitant on the Cabrio, I originally wanted a Passion Coupe but my wife liked the convertible. She absolutely hated the car so I told her I was getting one anyway. So I took her to the Smart dealer and had her go out for a test drive and she loved it. We have a Jeep Wrangler and we were thinking that we can replace that with this because they are both fun to drive, both have a unique appeal, but the Wrangler gets a painful 13 mpg in city and about 16 highway, so a fun car that's rated 41mpg was interesting. For now we'll keep both our toys. If you can get one now, go for it, what do you have to lose, they resell for thousands over list price.

Bw - thanks for the update, sounds like a blast.

Give us some more feedback in a few weeks, driving impressions, gas mileage, etc.

Congratulations, looks great! Any wind buffeting with the cabrio? Also, how noisy is it?

I am now at 2,500 miles, and the mileage of my SMART Passion went down, around 21 mpg, can't get above 22 mpg, city driving, not during rush hour, normal traffic.
MB checked the engine and said they can't find anything wrong with it. That's the equivalent of appr. 11 ltr/100 km. I get the same mileage with my 230 Sportscoupe Kompressor.

That's terrible mileage for such a small car.

I ordered the CK3000 Evolution Parrot because it's so small an unobstrisive. I have it in my GMC Canyon and it works great there. I tried all sorts of BT devices and the Parrot is the one. I never have to worry about charging the battery, turning it on when I get in the car, turning it off when I leave, it's all automatic.

There is no wind buffetting or back breeze at all if you leave the back window up (the top is 2 piece, the top part unfolds at any speed like sunroof, the back unfolds only while stopped). If you fold the top completely, it blocks half your rear view and you get very mild breeze from the back, no real buffeting to speak of. Also, if you want the full convertible feel, you have to remove the bars above the doors. It's simple, push a release button, pull them off and there's a molded storage area inside the rear tailgate. You can't close the top with the bars removed.

I did my first drive to the office, 60 miles each way and I got 42.6mpg but I hope that goes up as the engine breaks in. I only drive in about once a month.

My kid came home from school this weekend and we weren't home and she's never seen the Smart. She didn't like it because everybody kept looking at her, haha! Also she didn't know what to expect from the transmission so it took her by surprise.

You only have 4 posts and they all complain about the fuel consumption. Welcome to the forum!
