I would suggest numbering the water pump bolts...

I would suggest numbering the water pump bolts and taking a picture before removing. The bolts on mine (560SL) are of different lengths...I don't know about the 380SL but just to play it safe...

IIRC I didn't have to remove the fuel lines but then again sometimes I don't remember what I had for breakfast...lol. Do remember removing (carefully) the large vacuum hose going into the brake...

If you have access to a salvage yard you may find one there. The 560SL uses the same water pump as the 560SEL/SEC series. Two items you pretty much always see on an 80's MB...water pump and cruise...

Had mine replaced I'm guessing about 5 years ago. One thing my installer told me was to keep the soft top up for about a week so it "forms/settles in". Made sense to me and that's what I did. OK...
