SL55 AMG Base Dyno Results

Took the SL to my LS3 tuner in NASCAR land (Mooresville NC) as I knew I could get a legitimate set of pulls done to establish a baseline. The owner, Alvin, is somewhat of a legend in the Charlotte area for his tuning expertise. If you have a car with an LSx engine, this is the guy to see.

Although it was low 40's with a neg 476 DA,I was pleasantly surprised at the numbers the 55 put down. Although differences in dyno readings between stock readings and mods is the all important metric, it seems evident that MB is pretty conservative in rating their engines.

Although the car went in dyno mode easily, the tech had trouble keeping the car in 4th gear as it wanted to downshift. This resulted in him have to roll in on the throttle, somewhat affecting the slope of the curves. Anyway, the numbers speak for themselves, 445HP and 503Lb Ft TQ bone stock is stout to say the least.

For reference, my LS3 measured 397 HP and 398 LB Ft TQ after headers, a CAI and a custom dyno tune. My LS3 results are right in line with many others who own the same generation engine on the same Holden platform so I trust the dyno and the operators.

Not sure if the files loaded. If they didn't, somebody tell me how to do it (I dragged and dropped them) and I'll try again.

Thanks for showing the data, very impressive. Why does horse power increase while torque is dropping off? Obviously, I have a lack of understanding when it comes to dyno data.

In a nutshell, HP = torque x RPM, so as RPM increases and torque stays the same the HP will increase.
I'm most impressed with the high torque at low RPM, which is what makes the SL55 so pleasant to pull at any RPM.
