Rear Differential Service

Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone knows the part number for the rear diff fill and drain plugs. I'm going to perform that service over the next week or so as the plugs are quite buggered up & rusty. Thanks.

Here's a link to OEM parts for your car.

I was not able to find the drain or fill plugs with a search. Maybe your luck will be better.

Hey, another question!

The procedure calls for the use of Omnifit 100H Sealant (one drop on the drain/fill plugs). Can Loctite 577 Thread Sealant be substituted? It's much easier to source... Thanks.

I would have no problem using the Locktite product for this application.

I like the specs on the 567 better, but I think both will work. You are only trying to keep seepage to a minimum with the sealant. Teflon tape would work too in my opinion.

I used the tape. No pressure to seal against just seepage. No leaks on three different car diff services.

There is also a Teflon paste used by plumbers that is impervious to oils. I've used this many times on differential, transmission, and engine oil drain (and fill) plugs. Never any leaks, and if needed, the plug is easy to remove 'next time'. Comes in a small container with brush. 10X lifetime supply for our use!!
