Master sheet service history

Does anyone know of an online source or, other than the dealer source, to obtain the service history via the VIN? If the dealer is the only option, any idea on the cost to obtain this information? I have searched this forum before posting this but results proved negative. Car fax is more for crashes and such. I'm looking for dealer service history details.

Thanks!

It’s called a VMI - Vehicle master inquiry. Most dealers will not give this out. It’s considered classified info.

Only available from dealer, but if you have a good relationship with a rep it’s possible to get a printout.

they may not let you have one but they may let you look at it in the service dept. Ask your service rep for it. My best trick is to ask for it before I buy a car. Then the salesman will get it from the service dept and give it to you. Every time

One reason they don't like to hand out VMI's is because it contains personal information about the prior owner(s). Some dealership employees will ignore this and give it to you anyhow, others will redact the personal info, others will tell you they cannot give it to you, and of course the worst ones won't have a clue what you are asking. Note that pretty much all dealership employees have access to this, so if you know someone in sales, they might be more ready to help than service.

Thank you OKB! VMI in hand. I went "just looking" today for a new car and asked for the documentation. No problem!
