Trunk convience port normally unpowered.

09 SL 550: How do I make the plugin port, in the trunk, powered for charging the trunk battery. Currently it's only "hot" with the ignition on.

Rewire it. Unplug its harness, and then run new wiring to the battery terminals.

Why not just get this harness to plug your CTEK into?

I have the Mercedes charger so this harness will not work. I know because I bought it and the coupler fitting are different. Unless there is an adapter that I'm not aware of??

If I knew how to get to it that's what I'd do. I don't know how to disassemble the plugin surroundings.

That is interesting since the Mercedes brand the CTEK are supposed to be the same with different branding. You might be able to fabricate your own plug system and wire it directly to the battery. I personally would pursue that option versus rewiring anything (even something that seem innocent like a 12V charger outlet) on this car. Too many things are interconnected. Or you could go the easy route and for just under $70 get the CTEK with the cable included.
