AC Module

My 03 recently stopped blowing cold. I took to the dealer and they tell me its an electronic issue and it needs a new module cause there is no power getting to it to tell the compressor to turn on.

The quoted me 1,100 for the repair. I live in AZ so I need to have this done as soon as possible but my question is...is this a fair price?? Is this something i can do myself? Is this possibly not the issue at all and battery problems?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

you took the car to the dealer, because you dont trust them? You would have rather taken advise from a independent shop. They would have been cheaper.
So anyway, they tell you this is the problem and they will fix it for 1100. If you pay them the 1100, it still wont work.
Well, I dont know the answer. But the AC is complicated. No telling whats wrong. But 1100 is cheap for any SL repair at the dealer. Your going to have alot more problems that cost alot more with a SL.
I wouldnt drive for one day w/out AC.

The EC came up while driving and has disabled my compressor, and the red light wont just go. What can I do to put the EC off so my compressor can start.

Update:

I went to pick up my car from the dealer, with intention to take to have the repair done (a new module installed) but I figured I would give it a try, turned on the air and only hot/fan air was coming through. I left it on and then about 15 minutes into my drive the air kicked on.

The issue I am having is the air conditioning is turned on but there is some part/module that is not getting power and is not telling the compressor to kick on. (per the dealer).

I've driven the car quite a bit since to see if that was an isolated event or if it would kick on again...and the weird thing is that it seems to me as soon as I give the accelerator a good go and really rev up the engine while driving the air kicks on.

So is my car possessed? Is anyone else having a similar problem. I'm starting to think it may be a power/battery issue and not a module issue??

I should also note that there are no other electrical malfunctions.

Make sure you're not low on R134a, sounds like you are...

Scan the car at a indy shop, and pull codes...

I took the car in and they said the codes pointed to the sam unit.

Weird thing is I get no flashing red lights when I try to use the air, it blows just warm, fan air...and as soon as I open the throttle all the way (pedal to the floor) the air kicks on and starts blowing ice cold like it should....why does that happen??

Any thoughts?
