sounds low... you can find a 09' for under 40 but its going to have some mileage...

A good price on a 09' with under 30k miles is around $42k (that was nov/dec 2014)

Have you actually checked used car price guides? KBB prices 2009 SL550 in very good condition at $32K from private sale.

Contents of your link disagree, first page has plenty of cars at KBB price and under 100,000 miles. Depreciation happens.

Average asking price is meaningless. For one, average human has 0.49 testicles.

It goes without saying that location matters....I just changed the criteria for RedRum's AutoTrader link and there are 15 within 200 miles of LA and the average price is $ 44,586.67 with an average mileage is 42,880. Obviously this doesn't account for different options but for comparison, below are NADA, KBB, Black Book prices.....

NADA
Avg. Trade - $ 36,400
Clean Trade - $ 38,975
Clean Retail - $ 43,875

KBB
Fair Condition Trade-In Avg. - $ 33,984
Good Condition Trade-In Avg. - $ 35,377
Very Good Condition Trade-In Avg. - $ 36,344
Excellent Condition Trade-In Avg. - $ 37,342

Fair Condition Private Party Selling Price - $ 36,171
Good Condition Private Party Selling Price - $ 37,610
Very Good Condition Private Party Selling Price - $ 38,608
Excellent Condition Private Party Selling Price - $ 39,639
Fair Dealer Purchase Price (Based upon good or better condition) - $ 41,573

Black Book
Clean Condition Trade-In - $ 39,620
Average Condition Trade-In - $ 35,540
Rough Condition Trade-In - $ 26,945

Extra Clean Retail Price - $ 46,850
Clean Retail Price - $ 44,425
Average Retail Price - $ 39,650
Rough Retail Price - $ 32,150

PHEW!!!

So, in a nutshell, there are a number of factors to consider but bottom line is do your homework and go with the best possible scenario based upon your needs and how much you want to spend. I have an '07 I'm thinking about getting rid of if you're interested in the older body style....Send me a PM and I can give details.....

2008 vs 2009

I too had a 2007 SL and loved it - to bad I had to sell it. I am looking again and would love to have a 2009 SL but they are rather pricey here in Florida. If I drop back to a 2008 - at least $10k comes off the price. Apart from some front grill changes, are there any significant enough changes in the two models (2007 vs 2009) to justify spending so much. This is assuming I can find something that doesn't have 100k miles. (LOL). Greatly appreciate any input from forum members.
