Pascal_TTH. Yes I am looking into some tuning but since I live in a country that is very warm (and have experience with running turbocharged cars here) I need to make sure that the peripherals of the engine are up to the task.
The factory chargecooler will most possibly not be up to the task and will need replacement with a custom made intercooler (pro-alloy being my favourites with my experience in tuning cosworth engines
I am looking at the kleeman conversion, complete with header, that ups the output of the engine to about 235 hp.
Roots compressors and especially the m271 derivative used in the c-class run quite high temperatures ,so installation of proper cooling is a must.
That's why I am trying to find detailed technical manuals/data on the m271 engine used in the slk. That, and love for all things mechanical
bejak, thanks for the figures. Are there more than one derivative for the 200 kompressor engine? most probably.... The new facelifted 200 kompressor e-class has an ouput of 179 hp from its m271 engine...
Compression ratio would matter depending on the extra boost applied to the engine .
The slk has a terrific chassis and really needs some engine tuning and an LSD to become a proper sports car. Of course it has to be many things to different people, so its full potential is untapped as it initially emerges from the factory.
