Unplug the sensor and it should still slide off perfectly, I just fixed/changed mine a couple days ago.

Thank you gaks, yes I can remove it already. Just loosen the coolant passage 4 screw and pull out to clear the way for cam solinoid removing.

Before fixing, oil leak around cam solinoid and in the connector.

I have some pictures of my DIY cam solinoid leak fix.

Cam solinoid taken out. Show the magnet moving part mounted on the cam shaft.

Show sign of gasket compound burnt.

Outside oil dirt cleaned in my hand

Clean the cam solinoid and metal case

Sand off and clean the burnt old gasket on the Cam solinoid metal case.
And also on the cam cover mounting sureface too. Beware of dirt come into the cam shaft bore.
Use compress air to clean them again.

Assemble all part with gasket sealant compound to seal the same position of rubber seal.
( Old rubber seal not used )

In picture I add a little too much sealant but no problem.

Apply thin layer of sealant on the flat mounting sureface too and assemble all the part back in order.

And done...!

I have run a few trip in town and inpect the leak again...no oil leak any more.
The car run very fine.

Note very important :
1. Use more care on apply proper amount of gasket sealant. Too much will squeesed out much and excess sealant could stick with the moving magnet on the cam shaft, That could make more problem to your engine. Too little amount sealant may not seal the leak.
2. Apply sealant only on the outer edge of mounting flange of cam solinoid. So the sealant will not spread much into cam shaft bore, which can cause more problem to your engine.
3. Use only O2 sensor safe type gasket sealant. To ensure it will not damage your O2sensor.

My other idea : you may use the old rubber gasket too. By apply thin line of gasket sealant onto the rubber seal both sides of both rings. And this should be easier and safer.

If you need more convenient. You may buy a new one.
But I think, it's design of sealing inside is not so good.
Because the rubber gasket inside have it's age not long.

Great photos, thanks. I have a 1994 c280 and I have to d exactly the same thing. Is there a manual / document that describes in detail what needs to be done to repair this? I have a Bentley manual, and I have to say it is not very good. (I'm comparing it to an Infiniti manual I have for a G35 which is a very complete / useful reference. )
Any info would be most appreciated.
