Stop light and exterior light warning indicator

I have my driver side stop lamp went out last week. According to the manual, I replaced it with Sylvania 1156 LL with no problem. It works fine for couple day and then the exterior light warning indicator starts to show up again. This time my light is not out?? [?]
What's happening here? The indicator is not on everytime but quite often. I recheck and reinstall the light bulb and socket to ensure proper installation. The problem still comes back.
Of course, my local dealer suggests me replace the WHOLE tail light as well as MB bulb (which other dealer told they've used Sylvania-Osram). Also, that is not covered under starmark... (I'm start wondering what is actually covered!)
Any idea?[:(]

Check some of the past posts on cleaning the tail light sockets...

You probably have poor contacts between the socket and the contact strip on the tail light housing.

RE: Stop light and exterior light warning indicator

Just cleaning it may not permanently fix this.

RE: Stop light and exterior light warning indicator

I do not agree with jamming swizel sticks in the socket to fix it.

Clean and prep it right.

RE: Stop light and exterior light warning indicator

You are welcome to your opinion but this is not an either or. You have to clean and prep it to remove the damage done so far. But just cleaning it and putting it back is clearing the symptoms but not curing it.

The originals didn't go bad because they hadn't cleaned and prepped properly at the factory. They went bad because there is a play in the contacts that create arcing during shocks/vibrations and it will arc eventually regardless of how much you clean it and prep it.

Putting the plastic sticks in is just one way of ensuring a good fit. If you think there is a problem with this, do let me know so I can fix it. If you find some other way of fixing it, please do suggest.

Otherwise, just being dogmatic about cleaning isn't going to help in the long run.

HELP HELP!!!

After I redo it, now the warning light is permanent and the brake light does NOT lit anymore!!!!
[:(][:(][:(]
What went wrong this time!?!?
I tried to swap the brake light and back up light, the back up light works fine but not the brake light (I meant the brake light socket work fine on back up light place)! I think now it might be the tail light itself [:(]. Any one know how to open it w/o removing too many pieces??

RE: Stop light and exterior light warning indicator

Found the culprit! I didn't totally clean the contact on the tail light (I cleaned the socket for tail light contact and bulb contact). There is some carbon on the tail light contact surface.
Cleaned and working now. Next time I think I would need soldering to make better contact surfaces.[|)]
