Is this SL500 "Brabus" real?

Hi everyone,

I might be in the market for a SL500, currently driving a 08 Lexus ISF.

So like the title says i'm wondering if this brabus is real. The owner said its the stock engine with the brabus kit, he has no paper work to authentic for me. I've looked at photos online, the kit looks real but again it's only photos. Said it was imported from Japan.

Car has 100k kms (approx 62k miles), very clean inside and out, everything works, no issues with the car, underbody is clean, no rust. The seller is asking 18k CAD so about 13.5k USD. Would come certified and ready to drive.

Is it a good buy?

It has some Brabus parts by the look of it. But why would it appreciate ?

Does it have full Mercedes service history ? How many owners ?

Definitely not a brabus, Japanese modify their Mercedes all the time with aftermarket body kits. I have a w211 with brabus body kit and wheels, doesnít mean itís legit.

The wheels dont appear to be genuine. Unless its just the photograph, the monoblock vi should have the brabus logo embossed near the valve stem area. Also the exhaust tips look crooked which is a telltale sign its a custom bend, i.e. not genuine.

Given the wheels and the exhaust are the easiest to source as genuine parts and this car doesnt, I would bet the body kit is not genuine as well

Kind of a ho-hum interior too.

Is that a Brabus air freshener on the AC vent?
