1994 SL500 CO Emissions fail

Dear Forum
My 1994 SL 500 has just failed its MOT on the CO emissions. I believe the regulations have changed since last year.
Garage said to run some Cat cleaner through it, give it a good run and bring it back hot for a re-test.
It didn't work.
Any ideas other than new Cat? O2 sensors? The car has 64,000 miles.
Cheers
Stu

SS Motors (Weybridge UK) has diagnosed O2 sensor. They say they have never had to replace a Cat on an R129....

I hate running any concoctions in my cars, but!..... I had a 90 300SE that would fail emissions, ran cataclean by Gunk and worked like a charm, I followed the instructions to a T.

FWIW,

There is a product that I have used multiple times to successfully pass smog on a vehicle that was borderline.

I don't remember the name off the top of my head but it is available in California (Napa) and states on the box 'Guaranteed to Pass Smog'.

The cost is around $20.00 and they have you fill up with high test and then run through a full tank before going to be tested.

If a brand name is needed I do believe I have a bottle at home. I used some to clean up a generator that had old fuel.

This has saved me several times...:-)
