SL600 Silver Arrow - what is fair market price today?

I'm looking at a pristine condition 24K mile 2002 SL600 Silver Arrow with briefcase, both fobs, etc. There are so few sales of the SL600 Arrows that I'm having a hard time trying to determine a fair market price. Does anyone know of any recent sales that I could use for comparison?

I just checked NADAGuides.com and as far as value, they are way off the mark (LOW).
I think that car has the most value from those in the SL community already. I had never heard of a Silver Arrow SL until I got involved here.
I do think that is the car that has the highest potential of insane appreciation going forward.
Does Barrett-Jackson or Mecum have any sales reports from their auctions?

Fair market price is whatever the seller is willing to sell it for. I would imagine depending on area and audience the price is all over. It would certainly go for more at a Barrett Jackson auction than Craigslist, I would think.

Wouldn't be surprised if seller wanted $30K. What does he want for it?

The asking price for a SA when re-imported into Germany and shaped up for our local legal requirements (worth about 2-3K$, shipping is about 2-3$ as well) would be 40K$+ so relatively close to what was mentioned earlier
Hard to say if this is a fair value but that's what you will find on our car sales platforms (see link below). Most of the cars in that list have way higher mileage btw

What it is worth, is subjective.
Obviously, sellers overinflate prices and want the most money they can get and buyers want to pay the least.
SA is nothing really extraordinary over other R129's...in my opinion.
Sure,.nicer paint job, rims, interior color and dash.....and oh yes, the brief case.
I'd certainly would go with an agreed insurance price if you purchase this car.
Let's say you pay 20K for this car and next week, totaled....you won't get 20K from the insurance company! More like..10K...if that.
Here's an BAT ad.

What the others are here for, I have no idea.

the 25k mile one that sold on BaT for $27k is an SL500. There is one on there now with 28k miles that will sell for a similar price. But OP mentioned the one they are interested in is an SL600. So I would expect to pay the V12 premium on what the low mileage V8s did at auction. Not sure how much the added complexity of parts, repair and maintenance nets out against the rarity of a V12 SA, but if it were me, I'd try to be in the low-$30s when considering what the 25-mile V8 sold for - perhaps $3k-5k premium is fair. Obviously, everyone is coming from a different place (including the seller), so best you can do is figure out your number and give it a shot.

You could say it's a regular V12 car which means about 10% of all R129 production, so it's sort of rare. But, then there are only 100 V12 Silver Arrows on the planet.

Let us know how it turns out.

And Hagerty has 'regular' 2002 V12s rated at $17,300, so I'm guessing this one isn't going to be priced like that in the real world (or more importantly - in the seller's mind). The recent BaT auctions (and don't forget the buyer's fee) of SL500s with similar mileage should serve as the baseline here. Adding or deducting value based on features (mainly the V12) condition, maintenance history and needs, etc.

Thanks for the input. I'll make an offer and see where it goes. Will keep you informed.

I'm obviously in the market, so if anyone is aware of a low-mileage (preferably ultra low mileage) pristine SL600 Silver Arrow example, please let me know!

If the earlier post stating that MB only built 100 of these for the entire planet is correct, let me save you some time, THERE ARE NO OTHER ONES, ANYWHERE !!!

From here on out, I know what I am talking about because I've got 50 years in the used car biz. You have found a unicorn, a one and only, something impossible to duplicate. There's only one reason to not buy this one and that is because you can not afford however much it is that it takes to own it.

If you walk on this one, forever this one is going to be the benchmark you use to judge every other one you might encounter. You won't be comparing any others to the run of the mill 2002 SLXXX. Although those others might be far nicer than the average SL, trust me, they won't ever be as sweet as this one will be in your memory.

I couldn't even begin to be able to count how many times I heard a customer say "you know..... I shoulda".

Good Luck !!!
