I'm sure our transmission expert Martin (Mava) will comment

No trees were harmed creating this message, however some electrons were very inconvenienced.

Martin
When I down shift into second gear in my 98 SL500 it takes too long to engage so I was hoping this would help that. My 94 SL320 and 99 SL600 do better. I know my 94 has a different gear box and it will get second when I need it. The 99 Sl600 will get it in half the time as the 500. The problem is too much free wheeling into the corners and have to use too much brake . This can be a little scary on new roads.

If the other gears are doing well, I doubt these solenoids will do you justice...

A) I assume filter and fluid are under two years old, and at proper level..
B) Your Transmission Computer(TCM) is dry, and not dripping with fluid.

C) Have you reset you TCM too? Like post 1:

https://www.benzworld.org/forums/w21...omp-reset.html

What Have you found out?

Other gears work fine. New conductor plate and socket 15k ago. Cleaned out ATF on passenger floor board, seems like magic how it can get there. Opened TCM and dry no fluid there. I'm gonna try the reset.
