window auto drop question

Does a 1992 330/500sl have the window auto drop function - @1/4 inch when you open the door and auto rise the same @ 1/4 inch? I have read the forums and it seems that the later 1994/95 and on have this feature. I have done the sync procedure and it does not seem to make any difference. The hardtop and soft top and roll bar function properly so I wonder if this feature even exists on this model year. Any ideas appreciated

Cars made in calendar year 1993 or earlier do not have window drop-down. I believe the drop feature was necessitated by a redesign of the window seal which featured a deeper "v" groove.
roadhouse and Ears like this.

I knew a guy who used to buy two wrecked examples of a particular car: one was hit in the back, the other in the front. He'd cut each car in half and weld together the two halves to make one "good" car and sell it without revealing what he had done.

They shouldn't. You may want to investigate the possibility that your car's VIN is not original to the chassis.

This is incorrect:

The drop-down feature was introduced early in MY1995 (December, '94). See here ("Test Step" 11.0): STAR TekInfo.

Well is it possible to retrofit this feature to earlier cars that don't have it? And if so what would be required in order to retrofit this feature?

While investigating some windows issues I am having with my 96 I have learned a lot of their functions are run through the top controller module.

You would need the motor assemblies, roof controller, and electrical connectors, and then you'd have to wire it all to make it work. And if your car is fitted with its original window seals, the entire effort would be absolutely pointless.
