changing rear flex disc

Is changing the rear flex disc as easy as unbolting the old one and prying it out and then inserting the new one and bolting it in aligned properly and correctly bolting it in? No need to loosen anything else for this process? This is for a 1992 300/500sl.

Thanks

From all the videos I have seen, that is correct. Just make sure to mark the shaft and diff so it bolts back in the same spot.

It wasn't easy on my 1993 SL500 .
My flex discs are the 8 bolt type, and the rear disc could not drop down for inspection. I did it all up again and replaced both discs at a later date when I had to drop the exhaust to access the shaft and two discs.

No trees were harmed creating this message, however some electrons were very inconvenienced.

My 1992 300sl has the 6 bolt flex disc, wonder if that makes any difference?

As RedLiner says. Drop exhaust.
Then you can either slacken off the large drive shaft nut and loosen central bearing to allow the shaft to slide back OR you lower the diff (3 bolts) about 4 on a jack and slide the diff back to allow you to R&R flex disk safely.
