What parts of the interior are really leather?

I want to clean up and condition the seats on my 1992 300sl and was wondering what other parts of the interior are real leather and what is mb tex or other material. Is there any definitive description on this or should I just plan for the seats and the perforated door sections are really leather and the rest vinyl or mb tex or ?

Have searched and there seems to be no agreement on this.

Thanks

Put you VIN into this site:

https://www.datamb.com/

Follow the directions on the site to perform the lookup.

Look for an Exquisite Leather entry among the results. If you don't have the Exquisite Leather option then just your seats are leather. If you have Exqusite Leather then just about everything is leather: dash, door panels, A-pillar covers, console lid, visors, header cover, seat backs, seat outboard side bolsters, panels on the top, tonneau cover, etc.

I don’t know if I trust that or not. I have a 40 anniversary which advertises exquisite... dash and parts of seat are certainly not leather. I have by doubts on door cards as well...

I put my VIN in, and the only thing noted as "exquisite" was the stereo, which I would tend to disagree with. The interior was noted as "black leather," but I guess that means only the seats? It is a '97 sport model.

If that is true, no wonder that last leather treatment dried into a haze on the tonneau cover (new stuff that I saw on here, can't remember the name). Coulda swore the "rule of thumb" was "if it has stitches, it is likely leather," which would make the seats, steering wheel, and tonneau cover leather.

On mine if it's not wood, carpet, metal or plastic its Leather. Not one square inch of vinyl in the car.

I think the word you need to look for is actually "exclusive" and not "exquisite".
Some of the SL editions had leather exclusive as a standard, eg the Final Edition. Not sure about the 40th anniversary one.
I have posted a couple of pictures of the exclusive leather parts here Das besondere Interieur der R129 Final Edition
