My 98 SL500, lowered with 8.5 245/40/18 9.5 285/35/18. The 94 SL320 has 8. it's also lowered 245/45/17 all 4

Thanks for the reply FATHERTIME,

If I understand you right you have 30 mm offset at the front & 33 mm at rear plus 10 mm spacer for the rear.

You have no body fouling issues at the front with this set up & have not rolled the front fenders.

Here in the UK I have been offered some wheels they are a Multi Spoke Design being 8.5J ET30 X 18", my reluctance to buy them is based on trying some genuine MB 18" wheels that were from a R230. They looked great but.......

The fronts were 8.5J ET30 x 18, the rears were 9.5J ET33 x 18 but I did not record the tyre sizes fitted to the wheels. The rears fitted fine without clearance issues but the fronts rubbed the front wings / fenders so I did not buy them. It might be that the tyres were an over wide profile at the front.

My current 17" wheels are genuine MB Ankaa from an E Class they are 8.5J ET38 x 17 with 15 mm spacers all round - no clearance issues.

I have no issues with front rubbing with the 8.5 30ET and 245/40 tires Your ET38 with 15MM spacers puts your final ET at factory center line

It had to be the tire size, had to be too wide, as with these 8.5J ET30 x 18 and proper sized tires (same as John mentioned), 245/40/18 you should have no rubbing issues...

All of my cars are lowered, both R129 included, both with 18" wheels, both using 245/40/18 in the front, one with ET32 and this one one with ET25:

absolutely no rubbing anywhere, even with hard cornering.

Regards,
D

R129 & 18" wheels

Thanks for your replies everyone, the wheels I found were on the internet in the UK but in the south of England over a 100 miles away, I am looking to find a retailer a bit closer to home ideally within 15-20 miles.
