'94 SL500- Power Steering Upper Return Hose

Our SL500's power steering upper return hose cracked and we prefer to use OEM parts exclusively. Guess what? There ain't none to be had! I ordered a replacement back in September and M-B says they still haven't replenished their stock yet.

So I go to my friends on the board to see if anyone has a spare in their kit: Part #1299976182

Another item goes NLA =(

You know what I'm wondering... I see many local places have ads "we make custom hydraulic hoses on site..." Even local NAPA "super store" does. Would these be a good alternatives/possibilities for thos NLA hydraulic parts?

Regards,
D

When the steering hose blew on my 1993 SL500 about six or seven years ago, I didn't even bother to look for an OEM hose because I was in the UK and about to return home to Spain.

I took the hose to a workshop that fabricates hoses for JCB/CAT/Komatsu etc.
It took them about ten minutes to make it.
It looked better and stronger than the OEM hose and it's still working perfectly to this day

If it's good enough for a CAT, Bobcat, etc...its fine for a SL then. The heavy equipment machines have a lot more pressure going through their hose than a SL...have hose made. Engine does not know if it's OEM or not...
