Right oil filter?

I found a deal on Amazon for three Mahle oil filters.
Ordered the correct part number (verified by searching on AutohausAZ).
But when they arrived, I got this.
I'm used to the green and yellow box.
And this has a different part number all together.
Anyone have any info on this?

That seemed to be the same box I last had. Don't remember the part#. When changing it see how it compares with the old one.

Thanks wlb50.
Thinking it's another stlye of Mahle that's applicable to our cars.
Better filtering?
Anyone else?

Are you having a senior moment? Green and yellow boxes are Mann filters. OX 92 D is the correct Mahle filter (blue and white box) for your 1996 SL500 according to RM European.

Apparently so!
First time (accidentally) ordering Mahle filters.
I'd be happy if one of the moderators would just delete this post so my stupidity wouldn't be here for all to laugh at forever and a day.

You are right though in that they did change the style and color of the box. But with my own senior moment I can’t remember when.

I might add that I don’t think this thread is dumb at all. There is a very real issue of counterfeit parts. Unscrupulous manufacturers copy the trademark logos and box and put in inferior parts.

I think the only defense against that is buying from reputable people

I see it in Amazon for $10. The Mann filter is $7.85. Where was the deal you mentioned?

I bought 3 for $31 and change all in. I don't pay shipping.
If I bought 3 from AutohausAZ, they're cheaper, but it would have cost me $10 more with shipping.
So, I guess it's not really a deal, just more cost effective.
And as always, I got my oil in 5 liter jugs at Walmart. Also very cost effective. Plus you always see some interesting people there.
