Thanks D.
I'm hoping to start the hardware and finish process this weekend.
Right now I'm in the middle of an apartment rehab and that takes a lot of weekend time.
Going to take my time and do it right.
Shouldn't take too long though.

If anyone else is looking for a tow hook cover, this guy is selling covers for both left and right side. (I'm not affiliated in any way). Looks like OEM with numbers stamped and everything but the description says "manufacured by MH Dezent", dunno what to believe...

Looks like the real deal, too bad they don't ship to the US.

We do have members from all over the world helping each other? If someone was really in need maybe they could be shipped to a forum member and then shipped to the US?

Just a thought!

If you or anyone owns an R129 1997-2002 did you know that none of the keys or remotes are available. Even if you don't need a key at the moment call your local MB dealer and inquire about having a key and remote made. If they get enough interest maybe they will show a little bit of interest regarding solving this issue.
Thanks
Mark

I'm not convinced it's an actual OEM part.
It doesn't have the two nipples on the flats that fit to the holes in the bumper.
In fact, it doesn't even have the holes where the nipples would fit into.
Are the nipples a replacement part?
The issue I'm having now (besides time to do this), is not epoxying studs to the flats, it's getting the nuts on the studs. Not a lot of room on the back side of the holes.

What material is the actual MB made from? I'm guessing the some kind of Polyurethane/Urethane/TPO... If so, the "lip" of the part in that German listing looks like fiberglass coarse weave to me.

Good looking mold if this is a replica...

Thanks for kicking me in the ass to report back on this-
The part my guy made for me cracked pretty easily and I had given up on the project and I put the car away for the winter. Then I heard he was retiring soon, so I went back and mention it to him and he made me another out of a more robust plastic(I wish I could remember what it is). It's printed in much thicker layers so you don't get a smooth surface.
I tried to sand out the ridges as much as possible. After spraying and installing the mesh, it looks great on the car!
Unless you bend over and put your face right up close to it, you can't tell it from the OEM drivers side.
