Engine serial number help

Hi Everyone!
I am a mew member and would like some help. I have just bought a 1994 SL320 and want to go through it, oil, tune, etc.
In trying to order a belt, Rock Auto asks for the engine serial number. I understand this can be found by listing my VIN# here.
It is; WDBFA63E6RF086991
The 3 available German Flennor listed belts are for;
1) engine serial numbers 9986; To Engine No.: 20513
2) To Engine No.: 9985
3) From Engine Number: 20514.
What is my engine number?

Welcome to the forum,

You can get this information three ways...

A) Go to any Mercedes dealer(parts dept) and ask for a EPC print-out(they need your VIN to do this), or call them(parts dept), but you need a fax as I have found their system cannot email unless they convert it to PDF.

B) Maybe someone here with a Windows PC with a EPC account can get it for you. I'd do it, but updating my iMac's with windows..

C) Get your own Mercedes EPC account, yet EPC used to be free, but this year they charge $70 a year...Need a windows PC running internet explorer, and fully JAVA updated for it to work...

EPC-net Online

Hope it helps,

Martin

Engine-Nr. is 104991 12 000847 and it's up to 009985. So V-belt p/n is A 011 997 47 92.

If you should happen to find a helpful person at the dealer ask them to print a VMI report, Vehicle Master Inquiry, for the car. It has all kinds of good information - engine and transmission number, production data including paint and interior codes, warranty and goodwill claims and in some cases customer pay service history.

Included in the owners manual pouch is a Maintenance Booklet. Find the data card that is usually attached to the last page of that booklet. And in that data card you'll find your engine number.

Anyone know what the 12 and 000847 are in That Datacard engine number field?

Mine is 603971 12 000411 - I can see that the first six are for my OM603.971 engine but what is the 12 and what is the 000411? When the EPC part footnote says up to engine xyzabc is it referring to 000411 (in my case)?

And how does this correspond to EPC footnotes that say
Code:
As of engine
963, 12/52, 22/62, 003531

Catlady a "mew" member too! ? I am surprised they would want your engine number as virtually any other parts shop would require only the Vin.

Wlb50 your pun gave me paws for thought, which in turn brought to me within a whisker of disapproval.

I had a chuckle because the original "punner" was none other than the catlady herself, with a slight deflection of the keyboard
