Question To tip or not to tip

Vexing question of the day - but I know the group here will have the answer. I dropped the SL at the M-B dealer this morning for some minor work and they shuttled me home (they use an '11 S-Class as the shuttle...). So, do I tip the driver or not? Nice retired gentleman in a jacket and tie does the driving. This one has me stumped and I know the good folk here will help with my conundrum. Thanks all in advance.

To tip or not to tip

Yes throw him a bone, depending on distance I would say a five to ten dollar bill.

Mercedes aren't for people who want to have one, it's for people who can have one.

Yup. tip him. This old gentleman was probably hired for minimum wage and I'm sure he'd be grateful.

Well, it is the dealer after all, so the bill will be more than it should be...

I think the consensus so far is to offer a tip. I thought that was the right thing to do - now I feel like a bit of a schmuck for not proffering something this morning. Hopefully the same gentleman retrieves me this afternoon so I can correct my error.

Owner of Silver Arrow or SL600 should tip double, while SL320 can get away with tipping half.

LOL - I thought we should get away with half!

Nice comment from the service advisor - he called from under the car with the mechanic and said that outside of the tranny fluid leak (reason for going there today) she is in magnificent shape. Always good to hear!

Personally I'm 50-50 - I wouldn't beat yourself up if you didn't tip but the man would appreciate a tip.

But he doesn't expect one.

Those are coveted jobs at dealerships.

He is an employee of the dealership contracted to give you shuttle service. If you think you should tip to everyone giving you a service do you tip the cashiers at MacDonalds when you get you Big Mac?

.......^^^...... Remind me of this movie.....

I can't believe we have this kind of thread...^^^..

Just tip the guy.....

Horsepower: enough power to go from point A to point B
Torque: enough to get the car moving

0-60 mph: not in a rush
0-1/4 mile: about 5 minutes @ 2mph because no need to showoff

Every time I bring my Silver Arrow in for Service at the dealership, they always go gaga over it. Even the young valets, which I wouldn't expect a younger person to appreciate these cars. Nice to see, and nice to hear.
