Hey Tracy,

Just a couple of quick things, it has been a while, but thank you for all the advice when I was having my LHM trouble. Found out the slave side motor went bad on the ETA, and Victor did a great job with a rebuild, nothing like having the beast back and running so well again.

Second, the $529 you were quoted, was that the complete job including the new wires, I mean I love getting dirty with repairs on the SL600, but 11 hours worth of mostly frustration would be worth a second thought of having either MB or my indy do that harness. All of mine have been replaced except the starter/alternator harness as well.

Glad you are up and running ! The starter harness on the MBI motors estimate was $ 349.33. Seems to me you can get them for a couple of hundred. The labor was $ 180.00. If you have something gainful you can do to earn the $ 500, best left to a tech. It really is a bitch of a job. I don't know that I'd do it again. I think I'd bite the bullet.

I recently did my starter , alternator harness is it was a little difficult to get to around the starter but the rest of it was right there and easy to see and remove. Replace all 4'wires using the original connectors and put it back in . Now that I have done it I would be able to do it again on about three hours including the harness rebuilt. Total cost of wiring was very little. I took the money I saved and bought a new top for $395 and installed it too. Now that was a sticky job !

Son of a Bitch ! Finally got the air injection hoses in today. That's been 2 weeks. I think they flew it in from Der Fatherland. Also replaced the engine oli dipstick that had a broken handle. The biggest 911 bitch was those goofy spring clamps that are up in the depths of the alternator bay. There is just about no way to compress that spring with pliers and work the hose on. Then in a fit of desperation tempered with sheer brilliance, I compressed the clamps in the vice, and put a small zip tie on all of them. After the hoses were worked on, I put a long screwdriver in the space between the tabs, gave it a twist which snapped the zip ties and the clamps snapped closed. Problem solved!
The rest of the job was putting the coolant bottle system (both bottles). And replacing clips, air boxes and ducting, clamps clips, battery cables etc. I stopped short of reinstalling the headlights pending a possible xenon transplant.
After the pre-requisite drum roll I twisted the key. Started immediately, oil pressure pegged, no low oil light, and alternator happy! Success ! That was a huge amount of bullshit resulting from some prick at the wire manufacturer using a cheap formula on the wiring insulation

I Need Help With my '94 SL600 Ignition Harness

Hello, if there is anyone out there who might be able to direct me to the color codes of the various injectors and senders on this harness, I'd be very grateful. I'm a good way through the rebuild and want to quality assure my wiring isn't totally screwed up before bundling it all up. The different colors have faded on some and what I did tape with others has left me with around 7 wires that are orphans at the moment...Have got way too much time into this to abandon it and I'm not in a position to spend the $1k that it costs to replace. Need to confirm the color/striping on the 12 injectors and the left cooling fan sensor and the left side ETA along with the temp sensor. Boy, these are some pretty rotten wires in this car..surprised it ran as long as it did.. Any help please...?
