Post Interesting Finds on Craigslist (No personal adverts please)

Found these on Craigslist for $1000. The owner states they came off a 2006 SL 500. Will they fit on mine without spacers?

They would fit without spacers and some people have bolted the R230 wheels to R129 cars, but there is an issue with the lug bolts. All R230 cars use 14mm/wide thick lug bolts as opposed to 12mm thick/wide lug bolts on the R129. You cannot use R230 lug bolts on the R129 (unless you drill out the hubs), so are left to use R129 lug bolts, which will "work", but there would be a 1mm space around the lug bolt shaft and the lug holes in the wheels. Could cause vibrations, or...

Those wheels will work fine with no problems or "or", in my opinion.

Nice wheels at a decent price!

Speaking of the R230 Launch wheel, the following thread may be of interest to you. R230 'Launch' wheels for an R129

Thanks, that was a lot of useful info. Why can't life be more simple? It's about to be put up for the winter so I have a while to find the right combo. Only need a good battery tender now because I'll be gone more this winter than ever before.

All of the above is true. In addition these wheels are a MB product that come in Brilliant Silver or Chrome, not an AMG wheel, and are called the R230 Launch Wheel, sometimes Avion, because they were first introduced in 2003. They have been put on MANY R129's successfully with the right new lugs, and spacers if you chose. The fronts have an ET35 and the rears are ET40. So if you decide to use spacers think about a pair of 12 mm for the fronts and pair of 15 mm for the rears. Then you should be able to to use your OE lugs??? but please verify the OE lug part.

And IMHO they look bitchin on our cars although I would rather see a 19" wheel if I where changing wheels. Have you ever looked at the 19" Madrus Millenium that has the correct ET for our cars? Google or eBay for a picture!

I have AMGIII thin spoke wheels from a 2005 SL55 on my R129 using 12mm lug bolts NO problems whatsoever. Your wheel locates on the R12 radius not the OD of the 12nn lug thread.
