Finally got the new front rotors and pads in. I am backing it out of the driveway and hear this horrible noise. WTF? I get out, go to the front, and I had not removed the floor jack that was lowered but still pressure on the crossmember.

Looked around for the source of an annoying rattle (is there any other kind?) - it sounds like a loose heat shield but all seemed tight - maybe next time I have it up I will take the shields off around the exhaust and see if there are any loose rocks in there.

I bought my 1992 500SL in July this year and love it. I got a lot of compliments at the golf course.

In the last two weeks as the snow was flying, I have replaced the front convertible top latch cylinders, the tonneau lift cylinders, the back lock cylinders. Tonight I am putting in a new automatic aerial and putting the trunk back together. Tomorrow I am starting to replace the tonneau lock cylinders, bow cylinders, and main lift cylinders. I am really looking forward to no more oil dripping on the garage floor.

Thanks Top Hydraulics. Great service and instructions. I'll be sending the cores back soon.

Unfortunately, once that is finished, it's going into storage for the winter. I am looking forward to April.

One of the last sunny, warm days here in the Northeast, so a good day for a wash before taking her down to the winter storage garage. It's been a good summer. I just wish winters weren't so damn long around here.

So, I'm curious what products you used to get the results you got, It looks great!! Mark

The 97 SL500 got a wash last night, then this morning the clay bar treatment, a polish with some Meguire's 105, then a waxing with Collinite #845 Insulator Wax.

It's out in the driveway with the soft top in place so the sun can get it good and warm and let it stretch a bit. The wife likes the car with the hard top best, so it rarely comes off.

I have to take it off twice a year when I wax the car to check the hydraulics and stretch out the top. The soft top goes down and the hard top goes back on it in a couple of hours...

RJ I know how you feel after this weekend mine is getting a good coat of synthetic wax, seats getting treated for the winter for the leather not to dry out, and all the hinges lubricated - and than sleep till April.

Mark, First I cleaned all the wood to make sure there isn't any lose particles. Than I wiped of all the wood trim with isopropyl alcohol (diluted 50/50). Next step, using microfiber towel I applied a very thin layer of 3M polishing wax ,using back and forth straight lines, I polished the wood to remove any contaminents or fine scratches. The next step is "Pledge furnitire polish", but any funiture polish will do, apply with a very soft, clean cotton pad and wipe off using microfiber towel and buff it. For a final step, I applied Mequires Ultimate synthtic wax, to protect it.

Within the last week...
1. Replaced all 11 top cylinders with Top Hydraulics parts.
2. Pushed the switch back into place on the passenger side bolster.
3. Found out on the forum that the aforementioned switch is what was causing the passenger shoulder harness to lock. Problem solved. Next time, I'll read the manual. The
4. Finally, replaced the sun visor trim cap. After reading the sticky...again...I tried the "pull" method and it worked. So finallt, I can get rid of the new piece that's been in my trunk for 3 years.
