WTB Bose door speakers

I do not know what happened to the WTB/ For sale thread but it appears to be locked. Well as the title states looking for the bose speakers ( MY 1996 ) for the doors. Let me know if you've saved them upgrading your stereo.

Thanks Joe

If you have the originals, call Bose Automotive Division and tell them you'd like to order part number [whatever is on the sticker on the back of the speaker]. I can look it up this weekend if you dont have it. They're only $40 each. The only question they asked me was what kind of car is it.

Really? If you still have the number by chance I will pull them this weekend. Sweet. The only set I found for this car was 500 bucks for a pair. I'd change the whole system if that's the case since the labor would be less then half that. Awesome info mate. Thanks.

No problem. The $500 pair probably included new speaker housing (the whole plastic assembly in the door). By calling the factory you only get the speakers which is all you need anyway. You still have to take the door apart to get to them, but my speaker grilles were already broken off so i just replaced them without taking the door apart, and then just glued the grilles back on. I'll get back to you with a part number as soon as I can get to it.

NEW SPEAKER INFO!!! (I took this from someone else, but called and got two new ones for my car for $83. Just be sure to tell her that you have a 98 or older SL, as I think the car has to be 10 years old or older to get this price. I got both of mine installed in less then 10 minutes, all you have to do it take off that one lower screw and the mesh speaker cover slides forward then pops right off. You can reach all the torque bits then. I believe it is a T20 size too.)

Water destroyed my passenger door lower speaker in my 1995 SL500 and I saw in other posts that you can purchase the replacement directly from Bose. I contacted Bose via email and Bose responded:

"In answer to your question, we can provide replacement speaker(s) 171800 for your Bose Music System and the cost is $40.00 plus tax and shipping. Please contact our Consumer Support Line at 508-766-9522 with part number off the component you need to order over the phone with a credit card.

Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM EST
Acceptable Payment Cards : Visa, MC, Discover, American Express (PLEASE DO NOT SEND THIS INFORMATION THROUGH EMAIL THIS IS NOT A SECURE ENVIRONMENT)Thank you for contacting Bose Corporation.
Patty Bolack
Consumer Relations Division"

I called the number and placed the order today. The total with shipping costs for one speaker was $43.00. It should be here in two days. The female who took my order said model number 171800 for my vehicle is no longer produced, but the direct replacement is model 133619.

awesome, enjoy. I love these little ways of getting around the dealer prices. I just sent my roof cylinders off to Dennis Ficken to get rebuilt, I rewired my own throttle body and saved $1900, etc.
