....that is correct, you can call 1-800 MERCEDES and work your way through the menu to "CUSTOMER SERVICE"....tell them what you want and fax some type of "proof of ownership" to them and the odds are pretty good that they can provide a copy.........I know because I have done it !......hope this helps.

What year and model are you interested in? I have a collection of 97-01 R129 window sticker JPG's from eBay auto sales. It would not be your original sticker but may be very close.

Thanks Lynn :)!...Couldn't help but notice, there's almost a $20,000 difference between the 1994 and 1998 model years. What was deleted or changed to cause that wide of a price difference ?

I'll take a stab at answering this one. If you look at the number of units that sold for the higher dollar I think you will find a significant difference. In 94 only 3,118 units and 7,540 units in 98. I think I would be more tempted to by a 129 if the price was $20K less. Sometimes it's difficult to find the right price point. I'm sure it was a smart move for MB based on the sales increase noted below..

1994 3,118 $99,500
1995 4,721 $89,900
1996 2,742 $89,900
1997 4,234 $89,900
1998 7,540 $79,900

Varying exchange rates between the German Mark and other currencies are naturally a factor in the pricing of the cars in various markets. I didn't realize there was a price drop in '97 and won't comment on that. The price drop in '95 was due to very sluggish sales with the higher-priced M-Bs in general and the S-Class in particular.

It was also around this time that M-B began to engineer some of the cost out of the R129 even as they were making improvements and adding features. An obvious measure was the elimination of the powered rear-view mirror. Another is the simpler, redesigned rear top latches that can not be operated manually from the trunk.

Cost was reduced with technical changes. M-B simplified the roll bar and soft top control system, combined several engine management systems into one with Bosch's Motronic system, and introduced the electronically-controlled transmission that was cheaper to produce. The M113 engine that replaced the M119 in 1998 is plainly a cost-cutting design.

Price decrease was MB response on release of Jaguar XK8 convertible, which stole many potential SL customers.
This was presented in one of business meetings on market volatility of premium brands.

The "sticker" that MBUSA faxed to me did not have any prices. I then called the dealer that sold the car new and they were kind enough to fax me a copy with the prices.
Here is a JPG of a Window Sticker for a 2001 SL600.

I contacted MBUSA for a window sticker for my '91 500 SL but apparently they do not go back that far. They did email and were nice enough to explain that to me. Was looking forward to seeing how much someone paid for it when new. Just curious.
1991 6,061 US units sold@$89,300 base price.

Nice. Thanks Lynn. That would be me except for the PS2 package, unfortunately. I have the OEM trunk mounted CD changer. There wasn't a dash mounted multichanger in '01 with the PS2 was there?

BTW, headed down to your neighborhood this weekend. San Juan Capistrano. Can't wait to drop the top this morning, do the hour drive, play some golf this afternoon and do some al fresco cruising this weekend.
