haven't had to take off my door panels yet - and I make a rule not to jump into discussions in which I do not have real experience with - but since you are desperate for an answer, I will try to help. In all my decades of working on cars, I have never experienced a door panel that can be removed in sections - and be easily reassembled with half on and half off the car. I'm not saying they don't exist - but I have never dealt with one.

So I would expect - in this case - that you should plan to remove the entire panel as a single unit and then you will have the access to complete your task with the least potential to damage other parts

not the one with the door handle; but the upper one.

regards,
AFAIK they are one piece, but the leather liner and backing above the compartment can be separated.

Way to go would be to take the whole door panel off and see which of the upper moulded parts can be removed.
Thanks Robm!
I will do so.

Thanks Ceta!

In fact I can manage to find another whole panel but on mine there are some wood trims and I prefer not to remove them...
I saw some sections of the panel being parted and sold on ebay(the handle+the lower storage compartment covering). So I thought may be the upper section could be separated too.
I will try to find a used panel and look carefully inside it. If it can be dismantled I will definitely replace the damage section otherwise I will replace the whole unit.
I will let you know...

Regards,

Regards,
My apologies - I misunderstood the nuance of the question. My interpretation was that you merely wanted to replace the damaged part without removing the entire door panel - when I now believe you were asking if you were to take off the panel, can the damaged section be separated and taken to an upholstery shop for repair. I would expect that a reputable shop could deal with an entire panel just as easily as a single damaged section i if it were to come to that.

No issue me dear...
Once I will remove the panel I will carefully look at it and decide if I just take it to an upholstety shop or replace the whole unit...

Many thanks ..
