74 450SL steering wheel

My 74 450SL had a Nardi steering wheel on it when I got it 4-5 years ago( I lose track). Anyway, is that a Mercedes option? Or did someone put that on there later? Ebay wants $1000.00 for one like it. What have I got , can anyone tell me?

That wasn't a Mercedes factory option. Perhaps some dealers offered it as an add-on like they did pinstripes.
Don't understand your question: "what have I got?"

You have an aftermarket (in this case Nardi) steering wheel that was swapped with the original wheel sometime in your car's history. The are desirable and pricey as you found out. It's possible that it was installed as a "dealer option" when new but pretty much impossible to prove. Chrome plated wheels are another example of a dealer option. The dealer would install them when the car was new however none came from the factory that way.

Thanks. Good info. It leads me to another question. Were there “factory options” back then? Or were all 74 450s created the same? May sound silly, but I have no idea.
