205/70/14 tires

I have a 1973 450sl and am having a problem getting tires for it.I am having a problem finding 205/70/14 white wall or even black wall tires for it.Is there another size that will fit this car or if someone knows where I can find the 205/70/14 it would be appreciated.thanks.

Try cokertire.com. They sell a Maxxis in this size with narrow white stripe. I put a set of Maxxis of a different size on my W113 a couple of years ago and I am well pleased with them.

Tire rack offers me 4 reputable makes, two of them reasonably priced.

I run Hankook Optim0 H724 on my W108. I buy 205/75/14 ( the 5% extra in profile is only 3% larger in rolling diameter) and they are white stripe. Walmart for $49. I put about 2,000 miles a month on the car right now with no issues.

I put the General Altimax tires on my 107 (from tire rack) and have used them on my wife’s Outback and my Daughter’s BMW as well. They are a very good tire especially at their price.

I have the same headache, i.e. tyres are readily available but price tags are no fun for the original Pirelli or Conti - approx €350 per tyre. I currently run Maxxis which are OK, but might put Vredestein Classics next time as I really like the thread and look.

Just an FYI, there are alternative sizes but there are more rare than the originals size in Europe, in the US they may be more common.
