Welcome to the forum. And good luck on your trip. I just got back from a 1500 km trip myself. These cares are reliable and built for it. You will love it.

This spring is crazy. 2 weeks ago we had 26 C. Today it was like 8 or 10 C. No driving my Alte Dame atm.

Great that you have the dual timing chain conversion-- but-- How long ago was that? The plastic chain guides age and become brittle. If they break, it is just as bad as a timing chain breaking. If you have service records, that will help, if not - - - Pull a valve cover and look at one of them. They start out almost a white color become a very ugly yellow with time.

Hello Johnny,

Welcome ... especially with your RED 107!

My 1978 450SL was also resprayed from brown to red by a previous owner. I think it had something to do with Bobby Ewing's "Dallas" car at the time!

The engine compartment was sprayed black and it was one helluva job changing it to red without removing the motor.

We bought the car 14 years ago, did a 200km test drive and went off on a 4000km round trip a few weeks later. All it needed when we got home was about ľ litre oil top-up.

Greetings from Cape Town
Johann

Welcome to the club Johnny! And indeed, the car looks great - you'll have fun driving it on the Autobahn 😁👍

Suck it up, buttercup.

ALL hobbies cost money.

Gas is still cheaper than cocaine.....so let's keep things in perspective, eh?
