I want to get my low fuel light fixed so I can really see how far I can push it. I get the impression I could go 350 miles.

Weatherman has a magical 380sl that supposedly gets 20mpg. I think he just drives it while feathering the peddle only.
There are not too many hills in Key West - might make a difference.

When The PIG was on it's 2011 BenzyPalooza through the States....I was getting about 10 mpg.

I filled up twice for every one tank in Mrelbe's R129.

I resolved most issues and we now run pretty much equal.

I'm getting between 325 - 350 miles per tank......until I don't.

Last summer ran out of gas for the first time in 14 years.......but did it have to be in a single lane construction area?????

I got that great mileage in 2011 while on a trip, 1600 miles each way on I-95, 24.5 mpg. I took notes. It just seemed normal to me. But yeah, I drive like your grand mother, never pass, stay under the limit, don't run a/c.

Here we go again for all the doubters about fuel economy claims for a 560SL
I get 18 mpg on the highway, top down, AC on, 80 mph relaxed cruising.
Based on a 22.5 gal. tank that is a theoretical 405 miles/tank. With a 3 gal. reserve, I should be able to drive about 350 miles before the low fuel light comes. This would leave me an additional 40 miles of driving and 10 miles of panic stricken searching for a gas station assuming the fuel gauge/low fuel light is correct.
The same does not apply for city or backroads driving. I am sure if I would be flogging the car on country roads there is a distinct possibility of reaching single digits.
This is all theoretical, I donít like driving until the tank is empty and normally stop for gas when it getís close to a 1/4 tank.

I'm not sure on my miles per tank but I do know my 380SL is getting 20+ MPG. My most recent check showed 20 MPG which includes a 2000 foot climb up the Black Ridge on Interstate-15. The Red Fox does this easily at 80 MPH.

Thanks a Million

Famous last words right there. is in the details.

I've finally gotten Benzy road trip ready and will be taking a trip with the Mrs in a few weeks to Palm Springs. I'll let you know how my fuel economy fairs on open highway. Probably will be magical!

I keep my eyes closed when filling so I get infinite miles per tank. I also have many imaginary friends. It's a good life.

I get some number of miles per tank... don't know and don't care. When it gets down to 1/4 I fill it up and drive some more number of miles in some more number of days until it's back down to 1/4 and I fill it up again. If I drove for a living and fuel cost was a significant expense... then I'd care, but I drive my 107 for the sheer enjoyment of the experience and my enjoyment index is not related to MPG.

I used to drive a VW bug back in the 60's and it didn't even have a fuel gauge, but regular gas was .25 per gallon so we really didn't gave a shit about fuel cost. My bug had a lever on the floor that you would flip one way or the other when the engine started to buck from fuel starvation and that's how you knew it was time to fill up. You just had to remember to flip the lever back after you filled up or you'd find yourself walking some day.

I used to fill the tank on my Bug for $3. Except the place I was working only paid. $1.50 an hour, so....

So now it costs between $40 and $60 to fill a fuel tank (sometimes more) and the average schmuck is making $15 an hour on the clock.
